Autocross – Dave Dabell
We had a great conclusion to the 2011 autocross season in Dover. The weather was near perfect, we had a nice turnout with over 50 cars, and we had a lot of Porsches in the field. There was quite a range of car ages, from Jim Martin’s 1964 Austin Healy 3000 to Andy Crook’s new 2012 Cayman R. Several Riesentoter Region members were in attendance, many with older air cooled 911’s. Their cars looked like they were headed to a concours rather than an autocross, and made me embarrassed how dirty my car was after a couple weekends at the track with no cleanup. Thanks to the RTR folks for making our event part of their autocross series.
Congrats to Jonathan Arena from RTR for winning A Stock class in his Cayman S. Kudos also go out to our own Will Pyle for winning a crowded C Stock class. The BMC awards the Lofland Memorial Trophy for the fastest time of the day at this event. For the 4th year in a row Paul Alderman, driving a Catherham S7, won this award. Nice driving, Paul!
We had a successful and fun season this year due to the efforts of our volunteers. Many thanks for the help! Also, thanks to Andy Crook for the event photos you see in this issue.
