Let’s Roll!
Please join me at the Christmas Party on December 11th to acknowledge and personally thank the leadership of your Club for a wonderfully full calendar of fun! Bruce Grassano really knows how to organize an event, doesn’t he? Congratulations to Bruce and Vince Crognale, V.P., for two outstanding and successful years of fun with Porsche cars. And, Past President and multi-event Chairman, Nick Dunlop, deserves a clink with your glass for organizing another super and successful Drivers Education weekend at Thunderbolt and our show at Greenville Crossing, to name only two. Remember to extend your hand to Dave Dabell in thanks for his outstanding efforts organizing four AutoCross events each year. Anthony Guzzo, Der Auspuff editor, and John Kassay, Delaware Region PCA webmeister, along with Barry Simms, Der Auspuff publisher, and many other contributors and supporters, also deserve your smiles and nods for communicating to you all the timely information and schedules for our Club to succeed and thrive! Without all the creative effort these tireless volunteers provide, we might all have to find our own way to excuse behavior with our beauties — that’s right, with the cars, too! Job well done, boys! Many thanks!!
So … as I often reccommend, click the EVENTS/SOCIAL tab to find the CALENDAR and join us in coming events. Please remember, no general membership meeting in December. Instead, plan to join me for cocktails, a fine supper, good times, great people, and spirited dancing beginning at 5:00 on the 11th at the Mendenhall Inn up the Kennett Pike for our annual Christmas Party – black tie optional. Come thank those gentlemen whose tenure is about to expire and welcome those of us who shall soon begin to serve; and, certainly come to toast continued good times with friends in Porsche cars!
As a reminder, please plan to join us January 11, 2012 for Club Night at Porsche of Delaware in Newark for our first of the new year’s Tech Sessions where Tom DiCesare, skilled Porsche tech, will share his knowledge about all things mechanical in, around, and under a Porsche car. Food, drink, camaraderie, and Porsches are provided. Come see new(er) showroom additions and talk with Alex and Tom about those confounded head-scratchers that keep you awake or, at least, out of the pilot seat of your favorite ride.
During this holiday season, you may feel you and/or the rest of us are committed elsewhere and, therefore, unavailable for Porsche car fun. Don’t be silly; try us! With nearly three hundred members, you are bound to find someone in the same dilemma … bored, a beautiful stag under cover but, wanting to run, a destination with no one to exchange the lead. At the risk of sounding repetitive (last month), may I suggest “Road trip!” Looks like an opportunity (or two) for a Ride-n-Dine.
Please look for great articles on other pages this month in Der Auspuff and here on our website about what has been happening with your club. Tom Haag offers his insights to Gary Goodman, Goodman Radio Company, following his presentation during our most recent Club Night at the Clarion Bellé. Bruce Grassano shares his experiences with Yolanda at this year’s Rennsport event at historic Laguna Seca on the beautiful Monterey Penninsula. And, I was remiss for not mentioning last month that Liz Reid shares her excitement about her trip with Rex that she won last year at Parade. They were invited to Stuttgart where they enjoyed all the pleasantries offered as “VIPs on Tour” piloting a new Carrera 4 S Cab through the heart of Europe and Porsche Land. Please find her article and experience their delight. Who knows, maybe it will inspire you to celebrate a special time of your own; she’ll (he’ll) love you for it!
So, as excited anticipation for the holiday season wanes beyond December into January, we will alert you about our plans for more sojourns to places near and not-so-far. While details find focus, we will announce our intentions on our website, during Club Nights, and among pages of Der Auspuff.
The holidays are upon us now. Colder days, grayer skies. Commitments abound. But, still time for open cockpits and adventures behind the wheel with friends in Porsche cars. Shopping to do? Please visit your Club’s interactive website often to catch the details for upcoming events. Once there, you can join our Ride-n-Dine group, chat with others from our region and beyond about all things Porsche, and get answers to those confounding head-scratchers. More and more friends are posting items about things to do and places to go.
As always, you are encouraged to share your ideas and interests with the rest of us. Remember, you can easily initiate the fun! Simply send me an email with your inspirations at social@DelawarePCA.org and we’ll make it happen!
Keep the shiny side up! And, let’s roll !
